Start smaller.
I think we need to start smaller. We have huge dreams, goals and visions. Even plans. But we go full speed ahead and then can’t keep it up. So we come to a halt. And then get stuck. And then get down on ourselves wondering where we went wrong. We have the greatest of intentions. But we are lacking patience.
Take whatever you are doing. Whatever you are starting. And scale it back halfway. Then again. Then one more time. And start there. Make it incredibly easy to do. Make it something so simple to do that you don’t have to give it a second thought. Just enough so you have a baseline. And then let it grow naturally into more. And give yourself time. Just because we want things to change right away doesn’t mean that they should. Change takes time.
Some reflections that have come to me during my latest workouts and after taking a habits course recently. Been thinking about my ‘workout journey’ so far and how many times i’ve been inclined to leap ahead instead of seeing where my feet want to take me next.
So I say…dream. Come up with the vision. Make the plans. Then, start incredibly small. And keep going.
And be kind to yourself along the way.
